Installation of Post Officers 2018-2019 AL Year

The Nassau County Commander, Robert Guarneri and the Nassau County Sergeant at Arms, Steven McManus (PCC),will install the elected officers of Merrick Post No. 1282, American Legion, in their new positions on Sunday, October 14, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at the Post.  All members of the Post are encouraged to attend this ceremony.  A dinner will follow this ceremony.  Please call Sergeant At Arms, Joseph T. Ambrosino at 516-521-6989 to secure a reservation.  Dinner will cost approximately $35 per couple, $20 single, which will be confirmed when you contact Joe for a reservation.  Please send your check to the Post.  Please make your check out to Merrick Post No. 1282, American Legion; memo/for: Post Installation Dinner.

Annual Legislative Breakfast

The Nassau County American Legion's Annual Breakfast will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at the Massapequa Post 1066, 66 Veterans Boulevard, Massapequa, New York 11758 at 9:30 a.m.

This is a working breakfast - a continental breakfast will be served. Cost will be $15.00 person. Please donate a bottle of wine and liquor to be raffled off at the breakfast to help defer the cost of the breakfast.

All local and state legislators representing Nassau County have been invited to address the attendees on issues and legislation concerning the American veterans. The Auxiliary, Sons of the Legion and Legion Riders are also invited to attend. (The Legion Family)

Department Family Testimonial Dinner

Subject: Nassau County American Family Testimonial Dinner and Dance

On Thursday evening, September 13, 2018, the Nassau County American Legion Family will be honoring the Department Commander, the Department Auxiliary President, and Department Detachment Commander with a Testimonial Dinner and Dance. This Testimonial Dinner will be our way of showing that Nassau County is the Empire County of the Empire State.

The Testimonial Dinner and Dance will take place at the Pompei Restaurant, 401 Hempstead Avenue, West Hempstead, New York 11552. Festivities will begin at 6:30 p.m. and conclude at 11:00 p.m. There will be a dinner with all the trimmings, cake and coffee, beer, wine and soda. There will be music for your listening and dancing pleasure.

Dear Member,

Thank you for your continued support by renewing your membership for the 2019 Year. Please find your new membership card enclosed. Thirty four of your thirty five dollar dues are sent to The American Legion, Department of New York, of which $1.50 is allocated to the County per capita.

The American Legion was charted by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veteran’s organization making this the 100th YEAR OF OPERATING. Focusing on service to veterans, service-members and communities, the Legion has evolved into one of the most influential nonprofit groups in the United States. Over the years, the Legion has influenced considerable social change in America, won hundreds of benefits for veterans and produced many important programs for children and youth.
