Local Veterans Day Event 2016 at Temple Beth Am

Veterans Day Event
Friday, November 11, 2016
Temple Beth Am, 2377 Merrick Avenue, Merrick, NY 11566

To the Veterans in our community:

Hello my name is Jeff Newman and I am a Vietnam veteran.

Last May coming up to Memorial Day, Rabbi Mickey Baum of Temple Beth Am led a Friday night service. When it came time for Kaddish (the traditional prayer of the deceased), in addition to reading the names of temple members, he read the names of those who have made the supreme sacrifice during the "war on terror".

As a Vietnam veteran I was very moved by this and suggested to our clergy that perhaps we can do something here at Temple Beth Am for the veterans within our community on this upcoming Veterans Day which just happens to fall on a Friday this year. The clergy is 100% in favor and so a committee was formed with me as the chairman.
